CHAMPAIGN — The chants from the visiting fans grew even louder than before as Illinois women's basketball coach Nancy Fahey asked for a timeout.
It was too little, too late.
After a first half in which its All-American leading scorer was held without a point, Missouri hit Illinois with a haymaker after the halftime break, forcing the Illini to listen to M-I-Z, Z-O-U chants midway through the third quarter.
The Tigers used a third-quarter push, with Sophie Cunningham at the forefront of it, to pull away from Illinois en route to a 67-45 victory Friday in front of 1,288 fans at State Farm Center, snapping the Illini's four-game winning streak.
