URBANA — A former University of Illinois football player who admitted his role in what he and his buddies described as a prank on a fellow dormitory resident has been sentenced to a form of probation.
Darta Lee, 19, who formerly lived in Bromley Hall, admitted that he stole cash from a fellow resident of the dormitory on May 10, 2017.
He pleaded guilty Friday before Judge Tom Difanis to misdemeanor theft and was sentenced to a year of conditional discharge, probation that does not require regular reporting to an officer.
Lee and then-fellow Illini teammates Zarrian Holcombe and Howard Watkins were all initially charged with residential burglary and aggravated robbery, then later with criminal trespass.
