Illinois announced on Monday the Illini will wear alternate gray uniforms this Saturday against Wisconsin, the second straight year the special uniforms to honor Red Grange will make an appearance at the Illini's homecoming game.
Illinois debuted the look last year against Minnesota, a game the Illini won 28-24 thanks to a fourth-quarter fumble recovery for a touchdown by V'Angelo Bentley.
Without that surprising win against the Golden Gophers, Illinois likely doesn't finish 6-6 and make the program's first bowl appearance since 2011.
The uniform choice, and other matters involving the Illini, will be discussed by interim coach Bill Cubit during his weekly press conference this afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
