CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois is going to be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The No. 4 Illini concluded their regular season on Saturday night at Huff Hall with a four-set (25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 25-15) victory over No. 12 Purdue. With losses by BYU and Minnesota earlier in the weekend, Illinois is expected to be one of the top-four seeds during Sunday night’s NCAA Tournament Selection Show, allowing the Illini (28-3) to play in front of a home crowd through the Elite Eight.
Illinois’ 28 victories is its most since finishing as NCAA Tournament runners-up in 2011.
