URBANA — Caleb Griffin took advantage of being close to home when he left Champaign for Danville during the first off day of Illinois football training camp. He had time to spend with his friends and decompress from the start of his college career.
“The biggest part of me was just football, football, football all the time,” Griffin said. “I had been struggling with three days of straight football. (Going home) was nice. If I have any struggles or anything, I can go back and see my people, and then come back here and go back to work.
