CHAMPAIGN — Get out the brooms.
Thanks to the Illinois softball team, it's safe to say Maryland didn't enjoy its stay in Champaign-Urbana.
The Illini completed a three-game sweep over the Terrapins on Sunday by cruising to a 20-2 five-inning victory at Eichelberger Field.
Illinois (25-13, 6-4 Big Ten) amassed 38 runs in a matter of 72 hours against Maryland (15-23, 5-4), and with Sunday's triumph handed coach Tyra Perry her 100th win as the Illini's coach.
"The key to this weekend was our players," Perry said afterward. "There was a lot of great energy and we were attacking good pitches on offense.
