The spring shakeup of the Illinois women’s basketball coaching staff saw LaKale Malone move up into a new role as associate head coach. Staff writer Scott Richey caught up with the 16-year coaching veteran to find out more about the Illini, how her role has changed and what she’d do on the perfect off day:
What had you the most excited for the start of the season?
Just the competitiveness and the energy of our team. It’s a fun group to be around. They come to work hard every day in practice.
