CHAMPAIGN — Get a look at the team while you can this weekend, Illinois volleyball fans. It will be your last chance for a while.
Today’s “Stuff Huff” season opener against Louisville and Saturday’s matches against Miami (Ohio) and Creighton to wrap up the Illini Classic will be the only opportunities to see the Illini live before they spend the next five weekends on the road.
The September (and then some) road trip is partly by design. After opening the season at home with the Illini Classic, Illinois coach Kevin Hambly would rather avoid volleyball vs. football home weekends in September with the rest of his team’s nonconference slate.
