CHAMPAIGN -- Nathan Scheelhaase is coming home.
The record-settting Illinois quarterback has been hired as the school's assistant director of football operations, a source close to the program told The News-Gazette. An official announcement is expected later today and Scheelhaase will be on the job later this week.
Scheelhaase is currently working in youth ministry in Louisville, Ky.
He was offered the same job a year ago, but turned it down. Juice Williams was hired instead.
Williams recently left the program for a job at Georgetown, where his wife is becoming a law professor.
The position was held previously by Mike Bellamy, who became a full-time assistant coach.
