The 2020 Braggin' Rights game just got more interesting.
Former Illinois guard Mark Smith announced late Saturday night he will transfer to Missouri after spending this past season with the Illini.
Smith initially committed to Missouri to play baseball during his junior season at Edwardsville High School.
But arm problems surfaced, forcing Smith to re-evaluate his options and focus his full attention on basketball.
That decision paid off, with Smith delivering a dynamic senior season at Edwardsville, winning News-Gazette All-State Player of the Year honors and Mr. Basketball in Illinois accolades in 2017.
Last April, Smith spurned late offers from Duke, Kansas, Michigan State and others, committing to Illinois a little more than a month after Illinois hired Brad Underwood.
