URBANA — The adjectives used in court Thursday to describe Matt Sinclair's decision to stick a gun out his truck window at a friend in jest were predictable: "senseless, impulsive, dangerous, stupid, reckless."
They came from not only the judge and the prosecutor but from Sinclair and his own attorney just before the former University of Illinois football player and staff member was sentenced to 18 months of probation and 100 hours of public service for a weapons conviction.
Sinclair, 32, of Savoy was convicted by a jury in late April of aggravated unlawful use of weapons for carrying a gun for which he did not have a concealed-carry license.
