CHICAGO — A bowl game is likely not in the immediate plans for Illinois after Saturday’s 24-14 loss to Northwestern at Soldier Field.
“It would surprise me if Nebraska went and we didn’t, but I don’t know the whole system,” Illinois right guard Ted Karras said of another Big Ten team that went 5-7, but one Illinois beat this season.
Karras, like many of the other Illini, were all in favor of Illinois possibly getting another game. The slim possibility exists, with only 75 teams at the six-win mark to obtain bowl eligibility and 80 teams needed to fill slots of the 40 bowl games.
