CHAMPAIGN — The 2015-16 season wasn’t an easy one for Chatrice White.
A tumultuous offseason, with player defections, mistreatment allegations and an assistant coaching change bled into a nine-win season for the Illini, where multiple injuries meant depth was a serious issue.
White was individually successful on the court, leading the Illini with 18.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game to earn second team All-Big Ten honors from both the league’s coaches and media.
But a spring break trip home to Shelby, Neb., and a discussion with her parents ultimately led White to deciding her basketball future led elsewhere.
