Illinois basketball just caught a huge break. On Monday, Rutgers head coach Eddie Jordan announced that star freshman point guard Corey Sanders has been suspended from all basketball activities for two weeks due to an unspecified violation of team rules.
"Although I am disappointed to announce this suspension, I believe that it will serve as a valuable learning experience for Corey. The team will continue to work hard in his absence and looks forward to his return."
As you may recall, Sanders exploded for 39 points, 12 assists, and 8 rebounds -- all which are career-highs -- in Rutgers' narrow 110-101 triple overtime loss to the Illini a few weeks back.
