CHAMPAIGN — Braggin' Rights is back.
Diminishing product and diminishing crowds sucked most of the life out of what historically was a heated rivalry game. Just 12,409 fans showed up last season at Scottrade Center — a record low — with Missouri's half of the arena conspicuously emptier.
Saturday's showdown between Illinois and Missouri is projected as a sellout.
Coaching changes have breathed new life into both programs. The Tigers (10-2) have already topped last year's win total. The Illini (8-5) have shown flashes of what could be under Brad Underwood.
The rivalry that is Braggin' Rights could be emerging anew.
