EUGENE, Ore. — Illinois’ Stephanie Richartz placed third in the pole vault, clearing a Big Ten- and school-record 14 feet, 71/4 inches on Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Richartz earned All-America honors in the event for the second time outdoors. In 2013, Richartz placed sixth.
Demi Payne of Stephen F. Austin won, soaring 15-5, and Sandi Morris of Arkansas was second at 15-3.
St. Joseph-Ogden graduate Chelsea Blaase, competing for Tennessee, finished sixth in the 10,000-meter run to earn All-America honors.
Blaase was timed in 33 minutes, 27.73 seconds. Notre Dame’s Molly Seidel placed first in 33:18.
