Former Illinois guard Rayvonte Rice on Wednesday signed a contract with Italian basketball club Scaligera Verona to begin his professional career.
The Centennial product went undrafted in June’s NBA draft, but signed to play with the Chicago Bulls’ summer league team in Las Vegas. The 6-foot-4 guard saw limited action with the Bulls, scoring four points and grabbing nine rebounds in three appearances.
“It was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down,” Rice said. “Coach (Crespi Marco) said he wanted me to be the main guy over there and I couldn’t pass this up.”
Scaligera Verona plays in Serie A2 Gold, a second-tier league in Italy.
