If McGee lands at Illinois, he'll arrive after spending the past two seasons at Louisville, where he was the Cardinals' offensive coordinator.
Prior to joining Louisville, McGee, a former Oklahoma quarterback who has ties to the Big Ten after spending four seasons as an assistant at Northwestern from 2004 to 2007, was the head coach at Alabama-Birmingham for two seasons.
