CHAMPAIGN — There will be some red at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Just not as much as you might have heard.
Illinois ticket manager Jason Heggemeyer said Wednesday he expects Nebraska to have 5,000 to 7,000 fans in the building for the game against Illinois.
“It’s not a negative thing that Nebraska fans travel,” Heggemeyer said. “I hope they come here and spend a lot of money. It’s indicative of their fan base. They travel.”
The school sold 2,300 of its 3,000 allotment, Heggemeyer said.
“I think there will be a healthy number of Nebraska fans here,” Heggemeyer said.
