CHAMPAIGN — Devin Quinn had chased a Big Ten title in the 100-meter dash since he arrived at Illinois as a freshman in the fall of 2015. With that championship comes a fairly impressive honorific — fastest man in the Big Ten.
That chase wasn't without its stumbles along the way. Quinn said he "messed up" his race in 2017 to finish third in the 100 at the Big Ten outdoor championships. An injury slowed him down last year, and he finished fourth.
But it all came together this spring for the Punta Gorda, Fla., native. Quinn broke the record at Iowa's Cretzmeyer Track facility with a winning time of 10.
