Putting temporary Henson Court to a test

SPRINGFIELD — Two days after the circus packed up its tents and moved out of the Prairie Capital Convention Center, workers at the building on Tuesday laid down the basketball court in the arena Illinois will call home for five games this season in a test run to make sure everything is in order for the Nov. 8 exhibition against Illinois-Springfield.

The crew totaling about 15, headed by UI athletic facilities manager Jeremy Dunlap and PCCC director of operations Rich Sherwood, laid each piece of Lou Henson Court, put the scorer's bench in place and bolted the basket standards to the floor one day before DIA officials are to visit the arena to see everything in place.
