URBANA — The new football performance center announced last month by athletic director Josh Whitman now has a price tag: about $79.2 million.
A good chunk of that will be paid for by private gifts raised by the athletic department, though Senior Associate Vice President Mike Bass wasn't ready to commit to a firm number when laying out the project Monday for members of the UI Board of Trustees' Audit, Budget, Finance and Facility Committee.
"The number — and I don't want to hold them to that — was $30 million that they were expecting to go into this from gifts," Bass told trustees.
