CHAMPAIGN — Nancy Fahey wasn't sure the exact number of buzzer-beating shots her Illinois women's basketball team has allowed this season.
Fahey's unofficial counter had it at four.
Regardless, the latest one — belonging to Northwestern's Veronica Burton — turned Sunday's game in front of 1,532 fans at State Farm Center completely on its head, as the Wildcats rallied from an 11-point deficit in the third quarter to hand Illinois a devastating 64-56 loss.
"We've found a way to do that several times this year," Fahey said of allowing buzzer-beaters. ... "It's killing us. I think I've counted up four threes, or something like that in those situations.
