CHAMPAIGN — The plan last fall to replace Vanessa DiBernardo’s stabilizing force in the Illinois midfield was to hand those duties to Taylore Peterson.
But that old adage about “best-laid plans” exists for a reason.
Peterson tore the ACL in her right knee during practice before Illinois’ season opener against Notre Dame. Instead of anchoring the Illini midfield in 2014, Peterson would spend the season — and then some — rehabbing and recovering.
Illinois will likely now go through nearly that exact scenario again when it resumes play at 7 p.m. Friday at home against Northern Kentucky.
