Oliver ready for next step with Illinois football

CHAMPAIGN — After a breakout sophomore season, Tymir Oliver is using the spring to take another step.

The defensive tackle started 10 games in 2017, finishing third on the defense with three sacks and was named one of the team captains.

The defensive line is short-handed in the spring. Tackle Jamal Milan is out with an injury and end Isaiah Gay isn't participating in spring drills because of off-the-field issues.

"We're adjusting to it, but it's getting us better," Oliver said after Wednesday's workout. "We know Jamal will be back. When he comes back, it will be like he never was gone.
