CHAMPAIGN — An interim coach and an interim athletic director were in place, and in place outside of Champaign County.
Illinois wasn’t the only Big Ten school facing those circumstances for a recent two-day stretch.
Minnesota faced the same situation after Jerry Kill resigned Oct. 27 because of health reasons.
The former coach at Northern Illinois and Southern Illinois was reporting to an interim athletic director, Beth Goetz, before his departure.
Goetz is still on the job in Minneapolis, a job she assumed on Aug. 7 after former athletic director Norwood Teague resigned after he admitted to two incidents of sexual harassment.
