CHAMPAIGN — Bren Spillane spent Wednesday and Thursday in Chicago working out for the White Sox and Cubs in advance of next week's MLB draft.
Illinois coach Dan Hartleb said he wasn't aware of any other workouts for Spillane before the draft started. Not that the Illini first baseman really needed to show the White Sox and Cubs what he could do.
"He doesn't need to go to any extra workouts," Hartleb said. "Those are kind of neat and a fun experience, but people saw him all year. He did his work leading up to the draft.
