Money talk: Changes at top in UI salaries

The UI's football record book didn't require many revisions during Tim Beckman's three seasons on campus. But the gray book — the annual list of campus salaries, headed by Beckman — needs a complete rewrite. Five of the top 10 earners at the end of last school year (2014-15 salaries below) are no longer in those jobs:

$1.8 million

At his 2014-15 salary, it would have taken acclaimed Prof. John Rogers more than seven years to make what the former football coach got in one. The only question concerning Beckman — who went 4-20 in Big Ten games and made more than $5 million — is whether he'll get behind Steven Salaita, Casey Conine and seven ex-women's basketball players in the lengthy litigation line over the $3.
