With point guard Tracy Abrams once again sidelined for the season with an injury, here are four players currently on the roster who can play the position:
1. Jaylon Tate. The junior is a natural lead guard who sees the floor well. Defense and a consistent jump shot have held him back.
2. Jalen Coleman-Lands. The freshman combo guard started playing the position more regularly as a senior in high school and said he’s studied NBA point guards to help mold himself into one.
3. Malcolm Hill. He’s played a lot of power forward and is a natural perimeter player, but he handles it well and is Illinois’ most-talented player and possibly its smartest.
