Michael Massey is the Big Ten’s second baseman.
It was already a given, but now it’s official, as the junior claimed First Team All-Big Ten honors on Tuesday afternoon.
Massey, who started the year as the team’s designated hitter while rehabbing an injury, has shined in his third year in Champaign. He is hitting .323 with 65 hits, 14 doubles, and a career-high 20 walks.
He also hasn’t made an error since 2017.
All while hitting in the middle of the lineup, leading Illinois to a three-seed in the Big Ten Tournament and mentoring freshman Branden Comia.
