URBANA — Four athletes winding up in the win column may not sound like the best recipe for success in a tennis dual.
The Illinois men’s team flipped that theory on its head Sunday with a 4-0 sweep of visiting Purdue at Atkins Tennis Center in the Illini’s first home Big Ten match this season.
Julian Childers and Brian Page came away with a win at No. 3 doubles, while Aleks Vukic and Aron Hiltzik won at No. 1 later in the afternoon to secure that point for Illinois (10-7, 2-1 Big Ten).
Then, Hiltzik, Childers and Page each picked up a singles win to conclude the match in favor of the 10th-ranked Illini.
