EAST LANSING, Mich. — For the Illinois men’s track and field team, the key takeaway from Saturday’s second day of the Big Ten Outdoor Championships was success in short-distance events.
The Illini kept that story going as the event reached its final round Sunday. And it pushed Mike Turk’s team to something it hadn’t obtained in more than 20 years.
DJ Zahn turned in a victorious 400-meter performance and was part of two first-place Illinois relays, Cam Viney and Brandon Stryganek were both double winners, and the Illini earned their first outdoor conference meet title since 1994.
