ATLANTA — Illinois men’s golf captured the East Lake Cup on Tuesday by defeating Southern California in semifinal action and Georgia in the event finals at East Lake Golf Club.
The Illini outlasted the Trojans in the resumption of Monday’s suspended semifinal match, with Charlie Danielson, Thomas Detry, Alex Burge and Dylan Meyer each winning a match 1-up.
Against the Bulldogs, Burge secured a team victory for the Illini when he defeated Greyson Sigg in 19 holes. Detry and Danielson also won for Illinois against Georgia.
