Tatyana McFadden had already dominated the Boston Marathon course the last four years in the women's wheelchair race.
The Illinois graduate student, though, couldn't make it five straight wins at one of the most prestigious marathons on Monday morning.
McFadden finished fourth, clocking in at 1 hour, 35 minutes, 5 seconds to snap a streak of winning the Boston Marathon that started in 2013.
Manuela Schar from Switzerland won the women's race in 1:28.17, but along with McFadden, but the other four athletes in the top five all have UI connections.
Amanda McGrory from Savoy, who is a graduate student at the UI, wound up second in 1:33.
