CHAMPAIGN — Two hats sat in front of St. Thomas More senior Tori McCoy on the stage of the school’s cafeteria as about 100 students looked on from below.
The two remaining options as to which school the top-10 2016 women’s basketball recruit would attend were Ohio State and South Carolina, teams that faced off three days before when the Gamecocks came out the 88-80 winner.
The Buckeyes emerged victorious on Monday as McCoy unzipped her sweatshirt to reveal an Ohio State T-shirt, and the game a few days earlier had something to do with it.
“After seeing the game with Ohio State and South Carolina,” said her father, Tim McCoy, “we definitely saw where Ohio State would benefit a great deal from having Tori in their program, and she feels that she’ll make a greater impact with that program.
