CHAMPAIGN — The Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon could add a mile run next year to the marathon and relay, half marathon, 10K, 5K and youth run.
"The mile would be a straight shot on Green Street," said the races' co-director, Jan Seeley.
Also, there could be minor changes to the course because it has to be recertified every 10 years.
"Nothing major," said the other veteran co-director, Mike Lindemann.
The certification is necessary so that, among other factors, marathon runners can be eligible for the Boston Marathon.
In August, the certifier will make course measurements, using a bicycle and counter, he said.
