Morgan Park point guard Marcus LoVett on Wednesday night revealed on his Twitter page that he signed a letter of intent to play his college basketball at St. John’s.
Last month, when he announced his list of eight finalists, in order, LoVett ranked the Red Storm No. 1 ahead of Memphis and Illinois, respectively.
St. John’s had long been the favorite for LoVett when Steve Lavin was the coach. When Lavin was fired in March, former NBA guard and St. John’s great Chris Mullin took the job and connected with LoVett and his family.
Illinois began recruiting the 6-foot guard last summer when LoVett transferred to Morgan Park after playing the previous three years at various high schools in California.
