MINNEAPOLIS — Rick Borup and Cindy Duffy have occupied seats at Huff Hall for Illinois volleyball games for decades. Their fandom goes back to the mid-'80s, and when their son, Daniel, was a baby, they took him to games in a carrier.
Thursday's Final Four in Minneapolis will be special for the family in multiple ways.
Not only will they watch the Illini as they take on Nebraska for a place in Saturday's national championship game, but Rick and Cindy will watch Daniel, a former Spike Squad chair and Illini Pride board member, perform the national anthem.
