While the news out of the DIA about football coach Tim Beckman's firing was unexpected because of its timing, plenty more is happening on campus tonight for the Illini. The UI soccer team is playing Texas Christian, and beat writer Scott Richey — that's me — is back at Huff Hall for the Illinois volleyball team's season opener against Louisville in the Illini Classic.
It's "Stuff Huff" night for the Illini, and I expect the stands to be full. There's plenty of interest in the eighth-ranked Illini, and this weekend's matches — Miami (Ohio) and Creighton tomorrow — are the only time Illinois fans will have to see the team until Oct.
