North Dakota State (1-0) vs. Illinois (0-1) — 2 p.m. (ESPN3)
Good afternoon from the Prairie Capital Convention Center where Illinois will look to avoid starting the season 0-2 for the first time since 1923. That team, coached by J. Craig Ruby, lost its first two games to DePauw and Washington University by a combined score of 46-43.
Safe to say neither of the teams the Illini faced back then made 17 three-pointers, let alone allowing one guy to make 7 of 8. I’m confident in saying that because there was no three-point shot back then.
