DAYTON, Ohio — Mike LaTulip found his most recent recruiting process more relaxed than when he was coming out of Prospect High School and eschwed a scholarship offer from South Dakota State to walk on at Illinois.
LaTulip already knew the rigors of college basketball this time around. Knew what to expect on the court and academically.
So he focused on basketball in narrowing down his transfer options after a mutual decision between himself and the Illinois coaching staff to redshirt the 2015-16 season, graduate from the UI next Saturday and play elsewhere in 2016-17.
Nearly 25 different programs expressed interest in LaTulip at one point or another, with Wright State, Central Florida and Loyola after him the hardest.
