University of Illinois President Tim Killeen is now saying it looks unlikely that a new athletic director will named in time for next week's board of trustees meeting.
Killeen made the comments Friday following an event on campus with U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois. Killeen said earlier in the week that he had not given up on a candidate being approved at Thursday's meeting. But he now says that probably won't happen.
Killeen said it is more realistic that a new athletic director will be named at the end of January or in the first couple of weeks in February.
