CHAMPAIGN — Country music acts Jerrod Niemann and Parmalee will perform free concerts in Grange Grove before Illini football games this fall.

The Niemann concert will be at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 10 before the Illini take on North Carolina, scheduled for a 6:30 kickoff.

A native of Liberal, Kan., Niemann has produced six Top 40 songs including No. 1 singles “Lover, Lover” and “Drink to That All Night.”

His music has been described as “bro-country,” a genre of mainstream country influenced by hip hop, hard rock and electronic music. Many “bro-country” songs are about young, good-looking women, drinking and partying, and pickup trucks.
