CHAMPAIGN — The first commit Illinois men's basketball landed in the Class of 2019 became the first to decommit from the program.
Antwan January, a 6-foot-11, 240-pound center, announced his decision via a note posted on his Twitter account Sunday night.
In a move that was highly anticipated once New York big man Bernard Kouma committed to Brad Underwood and the Illini on April 8, it became official with less than three weeks left in the spring signing period.
January, a California native, committed to the Illini back in November and took an official visit to Illinois two months later.
