CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — There’s the first big win of the day. Now, it’s your turn volleyball.
The Illini were able to hang on to defeat UNLV, 77-74, and snap their 3-game losing streak. The win came in front of a sparse crowd at the State Farm Center on Saturday afternoon, but that’s because over 4,000 Illini faithful were two blocks down the road at Huff Hall where their volleyball team was looking to punch its ticket to the Final Four.
Illinois (3-7, 0-2) needed this win in the worst way. After being competitive in almost all its losses this season, the team was finally able to come out on the right side of a nail-biter.
