Herald & Review: Illini don pads in move to afternoon drills
Lovie Smith has called his first audible as Illinois’ head football coach.
Realizing that crack-of-dawn spring practices would mean taping ankles at 4:30 a.m., Smith scrapped his original practice schedule and issued a revised timetable that will move most practices to late afternoon or early evening.
