He's back! Beloved former All-American Illini point guard Deron Williams returned to Champaign this past Sunday to participate in a fundraiser for the Wayne McClain Pipeline Foundation. Williams visited with the Mike Thomas, played some golf with newly hired former teammate Dee Brown, and even got a couple of pickup games in with the current team.
Williams is regarded as one of the top players in Illinois basketball history; he suited up in the Orange and Blue 2002-2005 and helped lead the team to a National Championship appearance in St. Louis. His professional accolades include: three time NBA All-Star, two-time Olympic golf medalist, and NBA all-rookie first team.
