The Illini were playing well leading up the fateful round on Friday morning. They were coming off a solid Big Ten Tournament victory. This great showing overflowed into the NCAA Regional where the Illini were, once again, great. Michael Feagles took home individual medalist and the Illini won the regional as a team. But it was just one of those days for the Illini in the first round of the NCAA Championship.
Illinois started off shaky and couldn’t rebound. The first two holes played in the tournament by the first two Illini golfers on the course were a triple bogey and a double bogey.
