The only returning starting quarterback from the 2017 season, Cam Thomas, has departed the Illinois program, according to the press release sent out on Thursday.
Thomas came into the Illinois football program last season as a true freshman. He was a 6-foot-2, 190-pound dual-threat quarterback from Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He was rated as a three-star recruit who was the No. 1225 player in the class of 2017 and the No. 30 player in the state of Illinois.
In the lone year with the Illini, Thomas was thrust into the starting role by injuries and lack of quarterback ability.
