Illinois Football: For Mike Dudek, Change Isn’t a Bad Thing

Related Topics: Tim Beckman, Bill Cubit

Does this date sound familiar? It was the last time wide receiver Mike Dudek set foot in a college football game.

Illinois got beat down pretty bad in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl that day. Louisiana Tech came out and laid 35 points on the Illini who couldn’t get anything going on the ground because of injuries.

Dudek performed well that day though. He caught seven passes for 73 yards and also added in a 50 yard scamper.

Tim Beckman was the head coach of the football team at that time. But through mistreatment of players he was eventually let go a week before the start of the 2015 season.
